4th Annual Alumni Trip - World's End State Park
This June, Troop 48 held it's 4th Annual Alumni Trip. We decided to go for fresh adventure this time, so we headed to Worlds End State Park in Forksville, PA, waaaaaay up in the mountains. It was a small trip this year, just Mike, Tom, Ken, and Dan, but we had a blast. Saturday, we hiked the World's End Trail, which starts with a 500 foot climb in only a quarter mile. It was seriously straight up. Most of the way up, you cross the old pioneer road, which used to cut across the mountain, just above the steep dropoff those early settlers named "the world's end" as they passed through. Once on the ridge, we had a pleasant walk through woodlands and meadows, spotting flowers, butterflies, and a bear.
Afterwards, we drove to the beautiful scenic overlook, explored "the maze", got ice cream by the swimming area, and enjoyed our tin foil meals. Overall, a GREAT outing. Can't wait for next year's trip, which will be our 5th Alumni Trip and our 50th anniversary as a troop!
